“Very often the onset of stress is insidious. With time, the individual adapts to the gradually changing state of the body and mind, unaware of the increasing burden of physical and mental tension.
Yoga is of tremendous value as therapy in this situation, as regular Yoga practice leads to heightened awareness of the self, which will enable the individual to discriminate more clearly between tension and relaxation.
Recognition of the difference between these two states is the first step towards becoming empowered to effect changes in lifestyle in order to reduce exposures to stressors, and the body’s over-sensitive responses to them.”
