An article in the May 27th edition of the New York Times (Science Times), has a wonderful and insightful article on Mindful Meditation. It is said to be rooted in the teaching of Siddhartha Gautama of the 5th century B.C. Basic concepts are:

  • Being present through oberserving your breath
  • Acknowledging your inhales (energy being brought into your body) and exhales (energy being released out to the world)
  • Observing your feelings and sensations
  • Being less reactionary to life experiences
  • Not judging your thoughts, and letting them pass through your mind like clouds, floating by
  • Settling into a rhythm of breathing, and not losing focus
  • Relaxing
  • And that We are not defined by the content of our thoughts.
